Survey on the act on the next of kin. Poles are divided, the president is waiting


According to the latest public opinion survey conducted by SW Research for Rzeczpospolita, nearly half of the respondents believe that President Karol Nawrocki should sign the act on the status of the next of kin — a project regulating the rights of people in informal relationships.

The majority of Poles support the act on the next of kin. Survey results
Okay. 47-48 percent respondents expressed support for such a decision, while only 14.8 percent is against itand a large number of respondents have no opinion yet or have not heard about the act itself.
The act, prepared by the government as a result of a political compromise between the Left and PSL, is intended to formalize certain rights for couples living together, such as access to medical information, shared housing and social rights.

Some Poles have not heard about the act
The survey shows that Poles' opinions are diverse – some respondents are clearly in favor of the president signing the act, others are skeptical, and still others show a lack of knowledge about its content. According to the survey, almost one fifth of respondents had not heard about the act at all.
At the same time, this project is also controversial inside the Presidential Palace – previous statements by the president's representatives suggested that the head of state may set conditions for signing, especially in the context of constitutional issues and the protection of the institution of marriage.

The study was conducted by the research agency SW Research among users of the SW Panel online panel on January 6-7, 2025. The analysis covered a group of 800 Internet users over 18 years of age.
