The President of the Slovak Republic Peter Pellegrini, the Chairman of the National Council of the Slovak Republic Richard Rasi and the Prime Minister Robert Fico declared that in the most important matters affecting the interests of Slovakia – both in the domestic and international arena – they speak with one voice.
At the same time, they ensured good relations between themselves and their readiness and ability to constructively discuss possible differences of opinion.
This results from the statements of the three highest constitutional representatives of the state after a joint Saturday lunch in Bratislava Castle.
Rarely does Bratislava show such tight unity at the highest level. This time, the common front concerns issues that may cause a political earthquake also outside Slovakia.
In short:
the three highest representatives of Slovakia declare agreement on fundamental issues;
confirmed their readiness for an open and constructive dialogue;
Slovakia will not support Ukraine militarily or provide it with loans;
on EU and sovereignty issues, they want to stand together – decisively and courageously.
— The role of the three highest constitutional representatives is to send a signal that politics can be conducted in a civilized manner, that it is possible to talk in a civilized way and that those who head the state must be able to find a common language. They should work out common positions and decisions together – for the good of the Slovak Republic – said the president.
He added that today's meeting also confirmed that the three of them can talk about all topics very openly, factually and pragmatically.
A common front in foreign policy
According to the Slovak president, all three agree on US military actions in Venezuela, which they consider a gross violation of international law.
They also confirmed unanimity that Slovakia should have its representative during the coalition of the willing talks, with Bratislava's position remaining unchanged.
The president emphasized that Slovakia would not continue to support Ukraine militarily – it would not send “any soldiers” and it would not participate in guaranteeing a large loan from the European Commission.

All three also agreed that the European Union is a key space for Slovakia and the country wants to remain part of it. However, Prime Minister Fico emphasized that the EU is currently experiencing an exceptionally deep crisis.
I would not like Slovakia to run around Europe like a wounded deer during this crisis and become a victim of serious changes that may occur in Europe.
– he said.
He also drew attention to the crumbling world order and the problem of compliance with international law. According to him, the issue of energy security will also be a great challenge.
Challenges facing Slovakia
The Prime Minister considered it particularly important for Slovakia to be able to appear in Europe and in the world as a sovereign state.
– I want to appeal to the entire ruling coalition – even though we have internal conflicts and disputes – to come together now and show a brave, decisive and sovereign representation of the state that will defend Slovakia in these difficult times, Fico said.
He is convinced that in the case of the three highest constitutional representatives, harmony on matters of the future of the country will function without any compromise.
— Of course, it may happen that some bill will appear and the president will say that he has a different opinion and will veto it – that's life, that's his right. Or a coalition partner may say they disagree.
But on issues of sovereignty, Slovakia's position, security and survival of our homeland, we must speak with one voice and pull the cart in the same direction.
If the opposition is ready to join this effort for Slovakia, it will be welcome, said the Prime Minister.

Rasi also confirmed that the three highest state representatives can reach an agreement on solving serious problems affecting Slovakia – both in foreign policy and domestic affairs.
— I don't see any fundamental problems. We have common or very similar views on many topics, he noted.
He added that they also talked together about the functioning of the Visegrad Group and the so-called Sławkowski format [czyli trójstronnej współpracy między Słowacją, Czechami i Austrią].
Our position is clear: we will look for common points with these countries and try to work together to solve challenges
– he declared.
The work of the parliament was also discussed. — I want to confirm that amending the Act on the Rules of Procedure will and must be the first item of the next meeting, said Rasi.

Within the framework of national affairs, the three highest constitutional representatives also discussed economic issues affecting Slovakia in the near future – for example completion of the recovery and resilience plan program.
In this context, the President praised the approach of the Slovak government to the issue of economic growth and increasing the income of working citizens.
During the meeting, they also shared information about planned foreign trips and activities in 2026, as well as about visits of foreign politicians and constitutional representatives that Slovakia is to host in the coming year.
