Russians were told when to expect the next 12-day New Year holidays

12 January 10:25

The next New Year holidays are expected to last 11 days, and a repeat of the record 12-day holidays is possible only in 6 years – in 2032. Svetlana Bessarab, a member of the State Duma Committee on Labor, Social Policy and Veterans Affairs, told TASS about this.

She recalled that the government annually approves the production calendar for the next year at the end of the current year.

“At the same time, we can already conclude that the long New Year holidays are confidently entering our lives. And if in 2027 it can be assumed that their duration will be 11 calendar days, taking into account December 31, 2026, then the probability of the longest holiday falls in 2032, when Sunday, January 11, may be the end of the 12-day New Year holidays,” the deputy explained, noting that “The absolute majority of Russians, especially family people, love the long New Year holidays, because it is during this period that the winter school holidays take place, and working mothers and fathers have the same weekend.”

Note that the calendar for December – January 2031/2032 coincides in the arrangement of days with December – January 2025/2026, when the New Year began on Thursday. This time, Russians rested for 12 days, which made these holidays the longest in recent years (in 2025, residents of the country rested for 11 days, a year earlier – 10, in 2022/2023 – 9 days, in 2021/2022 – 10).
