On Tuesday morning there will be a meeting first between Keir Starmer and Karol Nawrocki, and then a plenary meeting chaired by both politicians. The president's statement to the Polish media is scheduled for Tuesday at noon.
The last point of the visit is the ceremony of laying a wreath by President Nawrocki at the Polish Air Force Memorial.
This monument is located near the RAF Northolt base in the London borough of Hillingdon, where Polish air force squadrons were stationed during World War II. This place was chosen to honor the achievements and sacrifices of Poles who significantly contributed to the Allied victory in the Battle of Britain.
The monument unveiled in 1948 – a symbol of friendly Polish-British relations – is the work of the sculptor Mieczysław Lubelski. The monument was erected on the initiative of the Polish Air Force organization established in Great Britain – the Polish Air Force Association (PAFA). The names of over 1,900 Polish pilots who lost their lives fighting in the Allied forces are engraved on it.
