The weather was freezing across the country last night and temperatures felt even colder than the actual temperature due to the wind. At 07.00 in the morning, temperatures between -8 and -16 degrees were felt in most of Romania. Extreme values were reached in the mountainous areas, below -24 degrees.
Meteorologists have announced that, until Tuesday, the weather will be particularly cold, with frost especially during the nights and mornings, accompanied by snow, as well as wind intensifications.
On Monday morning, the weather is frosty throughout the country, according to ANM maps with the felt temperature. The coldest is in the Southern and Eastern Carpathians, where it is -22 degrees at Călimani, and -25 degrees at Vârful Omu.
In Sinaia and Predeal the temperatures are -17 degrees. And in Transylvania, Banat and Crișana, the frost feels strong: predominantly -10…-14 degrees felt. The coldest areas are: Arad, Timișoara, Sibiu, Brașov, Miercurea Ciuc, where they feel -13…-16 degrees Celsius.

According to the ANM forecast, today, the weather will be particularly cold, frosty in the morning locally in the northern half of the country and isolated in the rest, and at night in most of the territory. The maximum temperatures will generally fall between -10 and 0 degrees, and the minimum between -19 and -9 degrees, locally higher in the extreme south-west, on the coast and in the delta, where there will be values of -7….-5 degrees.
The sky will be variable in the southern and southeastern regions, while in the rest of the areas it will be cloudy. Temporarily it will generally snow lightly, during the day locally in the mountains, in the north and in the center of the country, and at night in places especially in the west and north. In Maramureș and in the north of the Eastern Carpathians, a new layer of snow will be deposited, generally by
3…7 cm.
The wind will blow weak and moderate, temporarily with some intensification in the Eastern Carpathians and the Southern Carpathians, especially in the high area, where there will be gusts of 70…80 km/h, blowing snow, and during the day in the west and south of Oltenia and isolated in the other regions, generally with speeds of 40…50 km/h. In limited areas there will be fog associated with freezing rain.
