Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky on Sunday accused the Kremlin of “deliberate and cynical Russian terror against the population”, following a massive wave of airstrikes targeting civilian infrastructure in the past week, according to dpa, cited by Agerpres.
According to the balance sheet presented by the leader in Kiev, in the last seven days, the Russian army has launched about 1,100 drones, 890 guided bombs and 50 missiles, including the new Oreshnik medium-range ballistic missile, on Ukraine.
The attacks targeted “targets that have no military significance: energy installations and residential buildings”, claims the leader from Kiev. He also accuses Moscow of deliberately waiting out the frosty weather to make life as difficult as possible for ordinary Ukrainians.
“This is deliberate and cynical Russian terror against the people,” Zelenskiy said, accompanying his message with video footage showing the destruction in Kiev, Kharkiv, Kherson, Dnipropetrovsk, Donetsk, Odesa, Zaporozhye and Chernihiv. Although the Oresnik missile hit the city of Lviv, images of the specific damage caused by it were not made public for security reasons.
Russia recently launched its own terrorism accusations against Kiev, claiming that Ukraine had launched a drone attack on one of Russian President Vladimir Putin's residences. Following these accusations, the peace talks were suspended.
Zelensky has vehemently denied the Kremlin's accusations. Moreover, the US foreign intelligence service, the CIA, concluded that Ukraine did not target Putin or any of his residences.
