The newspaper “Birobidzhan Star” (12+) on January 11, 1936 on its pages talked about the Stakhanov movement in the region and one of the first initiators of the Stakhanov movement in Birobidzhan, this is the blacksmith of the “Wheel of Revolution” artel – Sholom Abramovich Shatailo. He was pushed to fight for high productivity by the fact that the forge where Shatailo worked was lagging behind in assembly and it was necessary to increase the “forging”. The newspaper says that Sholom Abramovich, without knowing anything about Stakhanov, started a Stakhanov business in his forge.

Private handicraftsman comrade. Shatailo became our first Stakhanovite. His example once again confirmed the words of Comrade Stalin that “the Stakhanov movement arose and developed as a movement coming from below, and precisely because it comes from below, it is the most vital and irresistible movement of our time.”

The same newspaper reports that the Olympics of Young Talents (6+) was held in the city theater. Children from kindergartens and schoolchildren took part in it. They showed all their talents to the audience.

At the concert, numbers on the balalaika, guitar, and harmonica were shown, songs and dances were performed. “A student of the 3rd grade of school No. 3, 10-year-old Koyfman, created a complete sensation. He came on stage with an unusually daring act – to show individual moments from the film “Chapaev” (6+) and amazed everyone. Like a skillful transformer, he instantly transformed into Vasily Ivanovich Chapaev, then into Petka, then into an old bearded man. For each shown scene, the little artist found fresh ones visual colors, special intonations of voice and behavior.”
