Romania, under snow, frost and blizzard alert: How to drive after tonight's snowfall / Map of affected areas and ANM forecast

On the main streets of Bucharest, cars are moving well after it snowed during the night. Romania is going through a genuine winter episode, with several warnings of severe weather issued by meteorologists. It is the coldest January in seven years and the cold temperatures will continue into next week.
Until Tuesday, January 13, the weather will be particularly cold in all regions, locally frosty especially during the nights and mornings in Banat, Crisana, Maramureș, Transylvania, Moldova, as well as in the mountains and in the rest of the restricted areas.
According to the ANM, maximum temperatures will generally be between -11 and 0 degrees, with persistent frost during the day, isolated in the north and center, and minimum temperatures will be between -15 and -6 degrees.
It snowed in the south and southeast and locally in the rest of the night from Saturday to Sunday, and today precipitation is forecast again over relatively extensive areas.
A yellow frost alert is in effect until Monday, January 12 at 10:00 a.m. In the mentioned interval in Banat, Crisana, Maramureș, Transylvania, Moldova and in the mountains the weather will become particularly cold, locally frosty especially during the nights and mornings. Maximum temperatures will be between -10 and -2 degrees, with persistent frost during the day, isolated in the north and center, and minimum temperatures will be between -15 and -6 degrees.

Another yellow code warning, this time for quantitatively significant precipitation, predominantly snow, snow cover and blizzard, is valid until Sunday, at 12 o'clock. The warning concerns the counties of Olt, Teleorman, Giurgiu, Călăraşi, Ialomița, Constanța and Tulcea.

In the mentioned interval, in Constanța and Tulcea counties, the eastern half of Ialomița county and in the south of Călăraşi, Giurgiu, Teleorman and Olt counties, there will be quantitatively significant precipitation (15…20 l/m²), predominantly in the form of snow and a layer of snow of 10…15 cm will be deposited. In Dobrogea and in the south-east of Muntenia the wind will intensify with speeds of 50…60 km/h, and on the coast the gusts will reach 70 km/h, there will be a temporary blizzard and reduced visibility below 100 m.
Road traffic is carried out in winter conditions on the network of national roads and highways in the counties of Constanța, Tulcea, Călăraşi and Ialomița, informs CNAIR.

And the INFOTRAFFIC Center reported that it is driving in winter conditions, with precipitation in the form of snow being reported, generally in the counties located in the southern part of the country.
Both snow removal equipment and anti-slip material are used, but no traffic restrictions are imposed.
On the main roads, respectively: A 1 Bucharest – Pitești, A 2 Bucharest – Constanța, A 3 Bucharest – Ploiești, A 4 Ovidiu – Agigea and the national roads DN 1 Bucharest – Brașov, respectively DN 7 Bucharest – Sibiu, road traffic is also carried out in winter conditions, actions are taken to ensure the viability of the roadway, traffic values being reduced.
