Kyiv without electricity and heating after Russian attacks. Winter deepens the crisis

The latest attacks, as reported by Reuters, led to serious disruptions in the functioning of heating and water infrastructure, which is of particular concern in the face of temperatures falling below minus 10 degrees Celsius.
City authorities announced around noon on Saturday that the state operator Ukrenergo had ordered the city's power grid to be shut down. As a result, water supply, heating systems and electrified public transport also stopped working. However, Ukrenergo reported that after less than an hour, engineers managed to remove the direct failure caused by earlier Russian attacks and power was restored in parts of Kiev.
Problems with heating and water during frosts
Prime Minister Yulia Svyrydenko announced that the heating system, which is centralized in Ukrainian cities and is based on supplying hot water to apartments, has been restored. At the same time, she emphasized that the situation in the capital remains difficult, because the power grid is severely damaged and residents are increasingly using electric heaters due to low temperatures.
On Friday, after the latest Russian missile and drone attack, approximately six thousand apartment blocks in Kiev were left without heating.

Vitali Klitschko, mayor of the city, said that by Saturday they managed to restore heating in half of these buildings, but it was cut off again due to subsequent network failures.
Russian attacks deepen the energy crisis
Russia has been carrying out regular attacks on Ukrainian energy infrastructure for many months, resulting in long-term interruptions in electricity and heat supplies. In recent weeks, the effects of these activities have been particularly severe because low temperatures pose an additional threat to residents. The city authorities and energy network operators are taking intensive actions to restore the efficiency of the systems as quickly as possible and provide residents with access to basic services.
