Six dead dolphins were found off the coast of Novorossiysk, Krasnodar Territory. The carcasses of two more mammals were seen in the sea.
After the tanker crash in the Kerch Gulf, more than 60 kilometers of beaches from Anapa to the Crimean Bridge were polluted. The total area is 65 square kilometers. Dozens of volunteers who rescued animals turned to doctors for help with symptoms of oil poisoning.
Regional authorities said they had cleared 34 kilometers of coastline and rescued more than 700 birds. 12 thousand tons of contaminated soil were removed from the beaches of Anapa and the Temryuk region.
