Chairman of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine Ruslan Stefanchuk announced that he talked by phone on Friday with the Speaker of the Sejm, Vladimir Czarzasty, about Russia's massive overnight attack on Ukrainian infrastructure. Stefanczuk announced that he had provided the Speaker of the Sejm with information about attacks on civilian and energy infrastructure facilities in Ukraine. “In such conditions, solidarity and a constant dialogue between our parliaments that remain active and bring results are particularly important,” he wrote.

He added that the conversation also discussed further strengthening of bilateral parliamentary cooperation “at all levels”, as well as issues related to the reconstruction of Ukraine and the role of parliaments in this process.

The Chancellery of the Sejm also informed about the conversation between Marshal Czarzasty and Ruslan Stefanczuk. As noted, during the conversation, Czarzasty thanked his Ukrainian counterpart for the visit of President Volodymyr Zelensky and the invitation to Kiev. – It was a very fruitful visit for both sides. There was a change of marshal in the Sejm, but our attitude, as the Polish parliament, which is extremely positive towards Ukraine, has not changed – said Marshal Czarzasty, quoted in the release.

According to the Chancellery of the Sejm, Stefanczuk thanked the entire Polish nation, including members of the Sejm, for the support that Ukraine has been receiving since the beginning of the war. – It will be a great honor for us to receive the Speaker of the Sejm in Kiev and we will do everything to ensure that on a symbolic day for Ukraine, the Speaker can address the deputies of the RNU and the Ukrainian nation from the rostrum of the Verkhovna Rada – he said.

The conversation was also attended by the Deputy Speaker of the Sejm Monika Wielichowska, the head of the Chancellery of the Sejm Marek Siwiec, the chargé d'affaires of Poland in Ukraine Piotr Łukasiewicz and the ambassador of Ukraine in Poland Wasyl Bodnar.

This was the first conversation between the speakers of both parliaments after Czarzasty took over as Speaker of the Sejm in November 2025.

On Friday, the Ukrainian Air Force reported that Russia used 36 missiles and 242 drones in a massive attack on Ukraine. One of the regions that came under fire was the Lviv Oblast. The authorities in Moscow confirmed that they used an Oreshnik medium-range ballistic missile to attack this part of Ukraine – a type of weapon that has only been used once so far. The attack also affected the country's capital. At least four people died in Kiev, said the mayor of the city, Vitali Klitschko, adding that almost 6,000 people died. buildings in the capital were deprived of electricity. There are also water supply interruptions in the city. Klitschko appealed to residents to do so if they could temporarily leave the city for places with alternative power and heating sources. (PAP)
