Krasnoyarsk residents were told whether it is possible to return money for an unnecessary gift certificate

The Krasnoyarsk Rospotrebnadzor told me whether it is possible to return a gift certificate purchased there back to the store.
According to department experts, gift certificate is nothing more than an advance on future purchases of goods or services, so it can be legally returned.
The seller has no right:
- Refuse to return money for an unused certificate or to return the remaining funds (if the certificate is partially used).
- Limit the validity period of the certificate.
- Limit the return/exchange of goods purchased with a gift certificate, as well as the exercise of other rights related to the inadequate quality of such goods.
- Limit returns/exchanges of goods of good quality purchased with a certificate.
“All these restrictions are illegal. If you encounter such violations, use our complaint form, designed specifically to protect the rights of consumers – owners of gift certificates. It will help restore justice,” Rospotrebnadzor explained.
