The president of the Vasas Femina club, Laszlo Bela, is unhappy that he received too little money from the City Hall, compared to the other clubs in the city.

Each sports club applies to the City Hall to receive money. The city hall reviews the club, decides if it is eligible to receive money and is given a score. Depending on it, each club receives an amount of money.

Vasas Femina, victory at first instance

The president of Vasas accuses that the points were not respected, and the City Hall did not grant the same amount to the clubs that had the same points, according to golazo.ro.

Vasas went to court to challenge how the total amount, 477,000 euros, was divided by the City Hall to the clubs in the city.

The judges decided that the funding request of the Vasas Femina club must be re-evaluated by the City Hall. Thus, at the moment, all non-reimbursable funds for sports clubs are blocked.

The town's senior women's football club only received around €14,000. Vasas Femina also accused the fact that ASFC Odorheiu Secuiesc, another club from the city, received the total sum of 935,000 lei (approximately 183,000 euros), i.e. over the limit of one third of the total budget of the town hall. A third would have meant 795,000 lei (approximately 156,000 euros).

President Vasas Femina accuses the Odorheiu Secuiesc City Hall

“Problems exist everywhere, I think, but most clubs accept them, treating non-refundable funds from public money as a welcome alms. Without having much evidence, most of these funds are divided politically, among friends, acquaintances, all the cutlery. They are clear illegalities, visible to the naked eye.

From my point of view, these are clear DNA cases, but we don't want to start a scandal. It's a small town and we don't mean to hurt anyone, but it's just unacceptable what's going on. We received 100,000 lei for juniors and 70,000 for seniors, so you can see the anomaly. I didn't sign the contract for juniors either.

For example, the senior football team obtained a score of 95 and received the amount of 595,000 lei, taking a fifth of the total value of the amounts offered. There are many irregularities. The worst thing about these projects is that the scoring is not respected. A point must be worth the same to everyone.

In our case, a point is worth 1,000 lei, and in the case of another club, it is worth almost 4,000 lei. I understood that it was not the commission that evaluates the projects that calculated the scores and distributed the money. These are for the facade. Someone puts a sheet in front of them. Who are these people?

The Vasas Femina Club has been submitting projects to the City Hall for non-refundable funds for 13 years. Essentially and fundamentally these regulations have never changed.

Compared to 2024, the non-refundable funds allocated by the Municipality of Odorheiu Secuiesc for sports have increased by 500,000 lei, 100,000 euros. And also compared to 2024, Vasas Femina received almost 60,000 lei less. Almost all of the money raised was directed to the boys' soccer team,” the club's president said, according to the quoted source.
