China's Ministry of Commerce on Tuesday tightened controls on the export of dual-use goods to Japan. This is a reaction to the words of the country's Prime Minister Sanae Takaichi, who did not rule out the intervention of the Japanese army in the event of a conflict over Taiwan, which China considers part of its territory.

According to the regulations, the export ban covers all dual-use goods that would go to Japanese “military users” or entities supporting Japan's military potential. The restrictions entered into force upon their announcement.
Beijing also announced that it will hold legally liable any organizations and individuals from third countries that try to transfer sanctioned Chinese products to Japan.
Justifying the decision, the spokesman for the Ministry of Commerce in Beijing stated that the words of the Japanese Prime Minister from November last year “constitutes brutal interference in China's internal affairs and a serious violation of the one-China principle” and the impact of these statements is “extremely damaging,” forcing China to take action to protect national security.
