Paul Anton (33 years old), former midfielder of Dinamo in the periods 2015-2017 and 2020-2021, is in the training camp in Antalya with his current team, ETO Gyor, the leader of the Hungarian championship. Coincidentally, the Hungarian team is accommodated in the same hotel as Dinamo
The Romanian midfielder, who has been in Hungary since the summer of 2023, is a regular at Gyor, a team that occupies first place in the ranking, above Ferencvaros.
Paul Anton, meeting with Dynamo players in the training camp: “that's how it happened”
Anton told how the meeting with Dinamo happened and admitted that he constantly follows football in Romania:
“That's how it happened, to be staying in the same hotel. I'm glad. I saw them the day before, met some of them last night, greeted them and wished each other good luck. I watch all the matches in Romania, less when I play.”
Anton spoke about a return to Dinamo: “Everyone knows”
Asked if he would consider a possible return to the “red dogs” shirt, Paul Anton was reserved, but spoke with empathy about the red-white club:
“I am under contract with ETO Gyor, I feel very good and I could not discuss it. Dinamo, everyone knows, was the place where I felt good, I also did work. I want to win the championship. I say they have a chance, because they showed in the first part of the season that they are doing a very good job.”
The former midfielder admitted that ties with the Dynamo locker room have become rarer, due to the many changes:
“A lot has changed. Among the players I can't say I'm in touch with anyone, although I know a few. A lot has changed in the club as well.”
The midfielder also spoke about the performance of the FCSB champion
Anton also commented on the situation of the great rival FCSB, which is outside the play-off places, but also on the subject of the national team:
“Nobody would have imagined that. They still have a chance, so we'll see.
I think every active player thinks about the national team. I was not wanted by anyone, but the staff know better who they need. As a Romanian, I want them to qualify for the World Cup.“
Settled in a city with tradition in handball as well, Anton also spoke about his experiences outside of football, but also about retirement:
“Unfortunately, the handball matches coincide with ours, but last year I went to a Champions League match with CSM Bucharest. Very nice atmosphere.
I feel very well. The fact that I play match after match says a lot. I pay attention to recovery, nutrition and hope to prolong my career as much as I can”, said Paul Anton, according to prosport.ro.
Paul Anton's numbers at Dinamo
Paul Anton played in two periods at Dinamo, collecting 90 official matches, 14 goals and 9 assists. The midfielder also has 12 selections for the Romanian national team, debuting in 2015.
