Marion Bartoli (41), the 2013 Wimbledon winner, recounted an incident last year, after the final at Roland Garros, when a gesture by Jannik Sinner (24, 2 ATP) left her speechless.
The year 2025 was marked by the rivalry between Carlos Alcaraz and Jannik Sinner, the best tennis players of the moment. A significant episode took place in Paris, where the two provided an exceptional duel in the Roland Garros final.

Sinner won his first two sets and was favorite to win his second Grand Slam of the year, but Alcaraz made an incredible comeback and, after 5 hours and 29 minutes, he won: 4-6, 6-7 (4), 6-4, 7-6 (3), 7-6 (2).
Marion Bartoli, former world number 7, was present at the Arena Philippe-Chatrier, having a significant role in the trophy ceremony. Recently, the Frenchwoman recounted in an appearance on BBC Live 5 an interaction that stunned her that day.
Bartoli said that she was surprised by the attitude of Sinner, who had dramatically lost the final at Roland Garros.
“As soon as he saw me, he made the effort to get up and come to greet me. He congratulated me on the interviews done during the tournament and said he hoped to see me at Wimbledon. I was stunned,” recalled the 2013 Wimbledon champion, quoted by Punto de Break.
“If I had lost a game like that, I would have destroyed everything in the dressing room and I certainly wouldn't have been able to talk to anyone like that. He is made of a different material, as he demonstrated a few weeks later when he triumphed at Wimbledon“, she added.
At Wimbledon, Sinner got his revenge against Alcaraz and prevailed 4-6, 6-4, 6-4, 6-4, but the Spaniard had the last word, in the US Open final: 6-2, 3-6, 6-1, 6-4.
