ASF bill. Farmers have lost up to PLN 10 billion over the decades

Lost income of farmers related to ASF in 2014-2024 is estimated at PLN 8.5-9.8 billion, the Ministry of Agriculture reported, citing a study by scientists from the Poznań University of Life Sciences.

It was reported that during this period, 576 ASF outbreaks were detected in farms, a total of 209,360 pigs were slaughtered, and the direct value of losses related to slaughter amounted to over PLN 106 million.

“The total losses of farmers – including, among others, biosecurity costs, but also lower purchase prices in red zones and lost income – are estimated at PLN 8.5-9.8 billion,” it was written. (PAP Business)
