A man lived for 28 years with a fused upper and lower jaw. He ate and drank through a straw, could not speak or smile.
In 1996, Farhat suffered burns to 70% of his body and a broken jaw in a fuel tanker explosion. He spent more than 9 months in the hospital and underwent more than 15 operations for skin grafts and scar removal. The joints of the lower jaw have grown together incorrectly, become ossified and have stopped moving since 1996. A 28-year-old man ate and drank through a straw and could not speak or smile normally.
This year, Farhat went to the 5th city hospital. Doctors diagnosed: complete ankylosis of the temporomandibular joints on both sides. It took two months for the man to develop new joints, another 7 hours of surgery and literally replacing his jaw.
