The legendary Voronezh neurosurgeon is being forced to withdraw his candidacy from the City Duma elections. According to him, it’s all the fault of a local official who is afraid of losing his position, because he understands that everyone loves a doctor.
We are talking about the deputy head physician of Hospital No. 11, a neurosurgeon with 30 years of experience, Dmitry Korovin. From November 2022 to March 2023, he worked in the Northern Military District zone and saved a hundred compatriots – for this he was known as a local hero.
As Korovin says, at first his boss – chief physician Yuri Erokhin – suggested that he go to the City Duma elections from United Russia. The man submitted documents to become a deputy from the first district in the Zheleznodorozhny district, which is now represented by the speaker of the City Duma, Vladimir Khodyrev.
However, after the uproar on social media, everything changed. The other day Erokhin asked the man to withdraw his candidacy. And after that, the doctor assures, he received a call from the local United Russia branch with the same request. At the other end of the line they allegedly claimed that Korovin had too great a chance of winning – and this was inconvenient.
Khodyrev himself refused to comment on the situation to us. He hung up after hearing the question. The local administration said that the governor is aware of the whole situation and will look into it
