PNL mayor robbed on the first day of the year: thieves entered through the bathroom window and stole money and jewelry
The mayor of the Surdila-Găiseanca commune, Gabriel Drăguț, was the victim of a robbery in his own home, on the very first day of 2026. The thieves entered through the bathroom window and left with approximately 10,000 euros and jewelry.

According to the information provided by the Brăila County Police Inspectorate, the PNL mayor reported the theft by calling 112, after noticing the lack of some goods from the home.
It seems that the thieves entered the home through the bathroom window and stole approximately 10,000 euros, the equivalent of approximately 50,000 lei, as well as jewelry.
The police officers from Section 3 of the Făurei Rural Police have opened a criminal case for qualified theft and are continuing investigations to establish all the circumstances in which the act was committed.
“On January 1, at around 10:00 p.m., the policemen from Section 3 of the Făurei Rural Police were alerted by calling 112 by a 45-year-old man from the Surdila-Găiseanca commune regarding the fact that goods had been stolen from his home. The policemen are still conducting investigations to establish all the circumstances in which the act was committed in a criminal case drawn up under the aspect of committing the crime of qualified theft”IPJ Brăila transmitted.
