The green stick has turned into a blooming miracle: I water the orchid in early December with this – and after 3 weeks the buds appear

Many people have noticed: an orchid stands for months with green leaves and not a single flower stalk. Especially in December, when you want a festive mood and flowering plants on the windowsill. The reason is not that she “doesn’t want” to bloom, but that she lacks mild stress and one key element – phosphorus, which triggers the formation of buds.

But there is no need to run for expensive stimulants. There is a simple way and you have it in your kitchen. Onion peels are a natural source of phosphorus, potassium and phytoncides. It gently “pushes” the orchid to bloom without overloading the roots.

How to use:

  • Collect dry onion skins.
  • Pour 1 liter of warm water and leave for 24 hours.
  • Strain the infusion through cheesecloth.
  • Water the orchid at the root.
  • Do not spray or pour into the axils of the leaves, but only under the roots.

Onion peels provide a mild phosphorus boost without nitrogen. And phytoncides protect roots from rot, which is especially important in December.

In just 2–3 weeks you will see: a dense, green peduncle will begin to grow from the axil of the lower leaf. By the New Year, the first buds will bloom on it, and by January the whole cluster will be in bloom.

Question and answer:

Can onion peels be used for an orchid?
Yes, but only dry, without rot, and only in the form of an infusion. Fresh husks cannot be placed.

Why doesn't an orchid bloom after fertilizing?
Because you most likely gave nitrogen fertilizers, and they grow leaves, not buds. For flowering, phosphorus and potassium are needed, and in moderation.

Why doesn't the orchid bloom in December?
Because she lacks phosphorus and mild stress.
