Morocco is set to host another major tournament in just a few years.
After currently hosting the Africa Cup of Nations and in 2030 co-hosting the World Cup, it is almost 99% sure that it will also host the Club World Championship in 2029. This was announced by the local Hespress agency, citing a source from the Royal Moroccan Football Federation.
Morocco is set to host the Club World Cup in 2029

The competition to host the Club World Cup is hugethe other candidates including the US, Spain, Brazil and Qatar. Despite their serious candidacies, FIFA's absolute favorite is Morocco.
The reason is that the world forum sees the organization of the Club World Cup as an ideal opportunity for a final test of the African country before the 2030 World Cup. Thus, it will be seen to what extent the Moroccans will be prepared to host the biggest football tournament in terms of infrastructure and logistics.
Dress rehearsal for the World Championship host
In the past, the previous year's Confederations Cup was considered a dress rehearsal for the World Cup host. Now, however, it seems that this role will be taken over by the Club World Cup, after in 2025 the USA hosted the first renewed edition of the tournament, and this year it will also organize the World Championship itself.
In 2030, in addition to Morocco, hosts will also be Spain and Portugal, and Argentina, Uruguay and Paraguay will each host a match on the occasion of the centenary of the tournament.
Nine stadiums, six cities:
- AGADIR – Adrar Stadium (45,000 seats);
- CASABLANCA – Stade Mohammed V (45,000 seats);
- FEZ – Fez Stadium (45,000 seats);
- MARRAKESH – Marrakesh Stadium (45,000 seats);
- DISCOUNT – Prince Moulay Abdellah Stadium (66,700 seats);
- Moulay Hassan Stadium (22,000 seats);
- Rabat Olympic Stadium (21,000 seats);
- Al Medina Stadium (18,000 seats);
- TANGER – Tangier Grand Stadium (pictured, 75,600 seats).
High temperatures have also been a problem in the US
Although FIFA could logistically accept Qatar as the host country again, the extreme heat during the summer could force the Club World Cup to be played in the winter, just like the 2022 World Cup.
High temperatures and extreme weather conditions were also a problem in the United States, where several matches were called off, including two for Benfica against Auckland City and Chelsea. In the game against Chelsea, play was suspended for about an hour and a half due to storm warnings.
