Chelsea sacked coach Enzo Maresca on the first day of 2026, and the management of the London club already has the first name on the list of replacement options. It is about Liam Rosenior (41 years old), his technician Strasbourg.
The Ligue 1 club is owned by the same consortium as Chelsea. Thus, the shareholders of the London team know Rosenior well and appreciate what he has done in Strasbourg in the last year and a half.

It would be a handy option for the management of Chelsea, which is why the London-born Englishman is the main favorite to replace Enzo Maresca, writes mercato specialist Fabrizio Romano.
“Chelsea will hire their new manager very soon, it won't be weeks. The club is working to find a solution. Liam Rosenior is very well seen after the excellent job he did in Strasbourg. The final decision will be made in a few days“, the journalist sent on the X account.
Who is Liam Rosenior, the coach who impressed in Strasbourg and ended up on Chelsea's list
Rosenior has impressed so far in Strasbourg. Last season they finished 7th in Ligue 1 and qualified the team for the Conference League.
In the current season, Strasbourg won the Conference League group with 16 points and qualified for the last eight. And in France it is on the 7th.
Rosenior has 62 matches on Strasbourg's bench: 32 wins, 13 draws and 17 defeats. He also coached in his career at Hull City, in England's second division, and at Derby, in the third tier.
The British coach is a follower of the 3-4-3 system, so at Chelsea he might have problems implementing his ideas, the Londoners being used to playing 4-2-3-1 with Maresca.
The Italian was dismissed after the draw with Bournemouth, score 2-2. Chelsea is in 5th place, 15 points behind the leader Arsenal, but two points away from 4th place, occupied by Liverpool.
