The General Staff of the Air Force has detected the existence of targets moving towards the border area between Romania and Ukraine, the Ministry of Defense reported on Friday. The population of the north of Tulcea county was warned, again, on Friday, about the possibility of some objects falling from the air space.
“On Friday, January 2, the surveillance system of the Ministry of National Defense identified aerial drones launched by the Russian Federation towards the Ukrainian ports on the Danube near the border with Romania. Around 11:50, two F-16 fighter aircraft, from the 86th Air Base in Feteşti, were taken up in the air to monitor the border area with Ukraine, in the north of Tulcea county,” the Ministry of Defense said.
At 12:00, the population of the north of Tulcea county was warned by RO-Alert message. The state of alert ended at 12:22 p.m., the quoted source said.
“During the mission, there were no unauthorized intrusions into the national airspace,” according to the ministry.
ISU Tulcea mentioned that no calls were registered to the single emergency number 112 and explains the decision to send the RO-Alert message.
“It was taken following an information received from the General Staff of the Air Force, which, through its own means of surveillance, detected the existence of targets moving towards the border area between Romania and Ukraine”, mentioned the firefighters.
They reiterate the call to citizens to keep calm, to carefully follow the messages sent through the RO-Alert system, to obtain information exclusively from official sources and to immediately notify the unique emergency number 112 in case of observing any special incidents or situations.
