The incident occurred in the floodplain of the Dnieper in the village of Gradizhsk, approximately 200 m from the shore.
There were a woman and two men in the boat. One of them was able to walk across the ice and reach the shore and at 23.48 he called the rescue service.
Another man also tried to cross the ice, but fell through the ice, became exhausted and called for help. Workers from the Gradiz local fire brigade pulled him out about 50 m from the shore using a rescue rope.
To rescue the woman who remained in the boat, State Emergency Service divers used an airboat: they reached the craft, transferred the victim and brought her to shore.
