Victor Pițurcă, the former Romanian coach, spoke about what happened at the end of the year in the Superliga. Concrete, Fast, Dinamo and Botoșani lost in the last stage, again University of Craiova finished 2025 in first place in Ligue 1.

Pițurcă was surprised by the unfolding of events and said that the people of Olteni have not achieved anything yet. He emphasized that it was more important for Craiova to qualify for the Conference League play-offs than to end the year on 1st place in the Superliga.

The former coach of Mihai Rotaru's team also declared himself shocked by Craiova's match with AEK Atena, in the last stage of the unique Conference League group. Olteni had 2-0, but they were defeated 2-3, conceding two goals in extra time, and missed the qualification to the next stage.

Victor Pițurcă: “This gives the people from Craiova the feeling that they have achieved something, but no, they have achieved nothing!

“It's incredible what happened to the University of Craiova, but also what happened after! All the teams in the championship to lose and Craiova finish in first place the year? That gives them the feeling that they achieved something, but no, they achieved nothing!

It was very important to win the match against AEK Athens. They could also finish 3rd in the championship, that didn't matter. But, you make them with your hand. To be 2-0, chances, and concede 3 goals? It's horror,” said Victor Pițurcă, according to sport.ro.

Craiova won against Csikszereda in the last stage, score 5-0, and finished the year with 40 points, in first place in League 1. Rapid was defeated by FCSB, score 1-2, Botoșani by CFR Cluj, score 0-1, and Dinamo by UTA, 0-2. Giulești have 39 points, Moldovans and red-whites 38 each.
