“War and terror do not take into account either New Year's Eve or Saint Basil's Day. On the first day of the year, there were new drone attacks carried out by Russian forces on the Ukrainian port infrastructure in the immediate vicinity of the border with Romania”writes the Minister of Defense on Facebook.

Radu Miruţă shows that the surveillance system of the Ministry of National Defense has identified air vehicles launched by the Russian Federation towards the Ukrainian ports on the Danube, in the direction of Ismail.

“Around 10:00 a.m., two F-16 fighter aircraft, from the 86th Air Base in Feteşti, were raised in the air to preemptively monitor the border area with Ukraine, in the north of Tulcea county. At 10:17 a.m., the population of the north of Tulcea county was warned by an RO-Alert message, and the state of alert ended at 11:00 a.m.”states the Minister of Defense.

Mirută also mentions that during the mission no unauthorized intrusions into the national airspace were registered, and the two F16 planes have just returned to base, safely.

“The forces of the Romanian Army constantly monitor the situation and act preventively for the safety of the citizens and the national territory”the minister says in the message.

The Ministry of Defense announces that, on Thursday morning, there was a new Russian attack with drones on the Ukrainian ports on the Danube, two aircraft from the 86th Air Base in Feteşti being lifted.

Also, an RO-Alert message was sent in the north of Tulcea county, but no unauthorized intrusions into the national airspace were reported.

MApN says that no unauthorized intrusions into the national airspace were recorded during the mission.

We remind you that on November 25, a Russian drone entered Romania's airspace and was tracked for over three hours. Four fighter jets were lifted off the ground and the pilots were given permission to shoot it down.

They did not succeed, however, because the aircraft was flying at a very low altitude and frequently disappeared from the radar.
