In it, the head of the Foreign Ministry proposed granting citizenship to the Hollywood star, his wife Amal and their children through the citoyen emérite procedure. This allows “a French-speaking foreigner who, by his outstanding activities, contributes to the influence of France and the prosperity of its international economic relations” to become a citizen at the request of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
Barrault emphasized that the Clooney family “permanently resides” in the south of France, where their children attend school, and that the couple “maintain personal and professional ties with [Францией]”.
