The wealth of the world's 500 richest people increased by a record $2.2 trillion last year, reaching $11.9 trillion, thanks to increases in the stock markets, metals, cryptocurrencies and other assets, Bloomberg reported on Wednesday.

This year's scale of wealth growth is unprecedented, the agency emphasized.
About a quarter of all the profits of the world's richest 500 people went to just eight people, including Oracle CEO Larry Ellison, Tesla CEO Elon Musk, Alphabet co-founder Larry Page and Amazon founder Jeff Bezos. Last year, Bloomberg recalled, the eight richest people could boast of a 43 percent share in profits.
Musk's fortune increased by over $190 billion in 2025, and Ellison's – by over $57 billion.
Donald Trump and his family became $282 million richer, and their current fortune is valued at $6.8 billion. In May this year Bloomberg stated that the American leader's family is “turning the presidency into the most profitable venture in history.” (PAP)
