The prosecutor's office announced that “Robert B., who was questioned during the investigation as a suspect regarding the charges, did not admit to committing them and exercised his right to refuse to provide explanations and the right to refuse to answer questions.”
The offenses he is accused of may result in criminal liability: a fine, restriction of liberty or imprisonment from one to three years.
August 18 this year the prosecutor from Gorzów, at the request of the Regional Prosecutor's Office in Szczecin, charged Robert B. with insulting officers of the Border Guard and Military Police at the border in Słubice (Lubuskie). Then, on September 17, B. heard two more charges in the Gorzów prosecutor's office.
The accused is an activist of national circles, he appeared on the Polish-German border as part of the so-called citizen patrols. He also established the so-called Border Defense Movement – a nationwide social initiative whose aim is to “defend Poland against mass migration and the threats related to it.”
Government spokesman Adam Szłapka commented on Wednesday's decision of the prosecutor's office.
“Robert B. with an indictment. Charges: insulting and slandering officers of the Border Guard and Military Police. He faces up to 3 years in prison. Hands off people who guard Poland's security every day,” he wrote on X. (PAP)
