Raw coal tank No. 2 along with adjacent belt platforms collapsed on the night from Thursday to Friday in the Budryk mine in Ornontowice (Śląskie) – reported Jastrzębska Spółka Węglowa, which owns the plant. One employee was evacuated during the rescue operation.

When asked by PAP about the incident on Friday morning, JSW spokesman Wojciech Sury signaled that it was still too early to determine its impact on the mine's operating prospects.
Sury reported that on Thursday around 23, in the Budryk mine, the raw coal tank No. 2 collapsed along with the adjacent belt platforms. After the incident, a rescue operation was launched.
There were two workers in the area when the tank collapsed. One of them managed to withdraw from the threatened area on his own.
“The second employee, due to damage to the structure of tank No. 2 and the platforms, was unable to evacuate himself. After a few hours, he was safely brought down by firefighters. The employee was taken to the hospital in Mikołów for examination,” the spokesman said.
He added that rescue operations in Budryk with the participation of the State Fire Service, mine rescue teams and the Central Mining Rescue Station were completed before 3.30.(PAP)
