German Eva Lys (23 years old, 40 WTA) ended a fantastic 2025 on the slopes and is preparing to return to the place that gave her everything: the Australian Open.

Before the Australian Open 2025, Eva Lys could not boast of great career achievements. She had finished the previous year in the 131st WTA position, and in the Grand Slam tournaments she had never gone beyond the second round.

In Melbourne, a failure in qualifying had again cut his momentum. He was lucky, and as a lucky loser he reached the fourth round. It was the beginning of a story he didn't even hope for. The $230,000 received was not the only advantage.

From that moment, everything changed. Sponsors flocked to get her signature, the German press treated her like a real star. Eva's personality also helped a lot. Always up for jokes, but also attentive to important debates in the world of tennis, such as the money differences between ATP and WTA or online harassment.

It was the start of an incredible year. My career turned upside down. A lot has changed, especially from a financial point of view. I finally managed to hire a physical therapist to be with me all the time.

“Life is so much easier once you're in the top 100. I have a wonderful family by my side, they'll keep me grounded,” says Lys.

The German spent the first part of January on the slopes, with a conclusion in the note of her posts: “The longer the season, the shorter the vacation. LOL.” A long season, ended in the best place of the career, 40!
