Metrorex and STB program for New Year's Eve 2026. How will buses and the subway run on New Year's Eve

The metro will run on New Year's Eve 2026 at intervals of about 20 minutes, according to Metrorex. And STB announced the bus schedule in Bucharest for the New Year, as well as special measures in the context of the “New Year's Eve 2025-2026” event, organized in the Piața Alba Iulia area.

Metro schedule for New Year's Eve 2026

Metrorex has announced that, between January 1-2, 2026 and January 5-7, 2026, metro trains will run according to the schedules valid for weekends and public holidays.

  • Highways 1, 2, 3 and 5: 9 minute interval
  • Highway 4: 12 minute interval

On New Year's Eve, December 31, 2025 – January 1, 2026:

  • 23:00 – 01:00: trains approximately every 10 minutes
  • 01:00 – 05:00: trains every 20 minutes

STB bus schedule for New Year's Eve 2026

The public transport schedule in Bucharest was announced by the Intercommunity Development Association for Public Transport Bucharest – Ilfov (TPBI).

New night line

On New Year's Eve, the N41 bus line will operate, transporting passengers every 30 minutes.

The route is: “Piața Presei”, Bd. Mărăști, Bd. Mareșal Alexandru Averescu, Str. Turda, Passajul Grant, Calea Crângași, Sos. Virtuiti, Lujerului Passage, Str. Brașov, Bd. Ghencea, “Ghencea” and return.

At the same time, travelers will have at their disposal the 25 existing night lines, which will run between 23:00 and 05:00, at intervals of 30 minutes between vehicles.

Traffic restrictions and route diversions

Also on New Year's Eve, “New Year's Eve 2025-2026”, organized in the Alba Iulia Square area of ​​Bucharest, will impose road traffic restrictions, during the period of 31.12.2025, starting at 19:00 – 01.01.2026, until 01:00, on Bd. Unirii, the section between Str. Lucian Blaga and Piața Alba Iulia, respectively on Bd. Decebal, between Str. Dristolur and Alba Iulia Square.

For this reason, during the mentioned period, the buses of lines 104 and N104 will circulate – at the disposal of public order agents and the Road Brigade – on modified routes, as follows:

Line 104 will operate on the basic route between the “Piaţa Operei” terminal and the intersection of Bd. Unirii/ Str. Lucian Blaga, then on a modified route in both directions on Str. Lucian Blaga, Calea Dudesti, Road. Mihai Bravu, then the basic route.

The N104 line will operate on the basic route between the terminal “Piaţa Unirii 4” and the intersection Bd. Unirii/ Str. Lucian Blaga, then on a modified route in both directions on Str. Lucian Blaga, Calea Dudesti, Road. Mihai Bravu, Str. Baba Novac, then the base route.

TPBI reminds that, during the period 25.12.2025-07.01.2026, public surface transport lines in the Municipality of Bucharest will operate according to the schedule of a Sunday.
