Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky announced on Tuesday, December 30, that next week a meeting will be held in France with leaders of the countries allied to Kiev, as part of negotiations related to finding a solution to stop the Russian invasion of Ukraine.
The meeting is scheduled for January 6 and will be preceded by a meeting at the level of security advisers of the states allied to Ukraine, which is to take place on January 3, on the territory of Ukraine, Zelensky announced on the X platform.
According to Volodymyr Zelensky, these meetings have the role of preparing in detail the diplomatic agenda for the leaders' meeting.
“To review all documents, all preparatory works and additional points”, explained the Ukrainian head of state in an online press conference with journalists.
After the meeting in France, there will be further talks at the level of advisors, scheduled for January 7, with a view to finalizing the details before a new high-level meeting.
“Meetings of advisers will also take place on January 7 to fine-tune the details before a new meeting between European and American leaders,” stated Volodymyr Zelensky.
Macron confirms the meeting in Paris
The announcement of the leader from Kiev comes after the president of France, Emmanuel Macron, confirmed, on Monday, December 29, the organization of a meeting of Ukraine's allies in Paris, focused on the security guarantees that could be offered to Kiev in the framework of a possible peace agreement with Russia.
“We will bring together the countries of the Coalition of the Volunteers in Paris in early January to finalize each other's security contributions,” wrote Emmanuel Macron on X.
“We are making progress on security guarantees, which will be central to building a just and lasting peace,” he continued.
All these discussions and planning for meetings take place shortly after the meeting between Volodymyr Zelenskiy and Donald Trump, held a few days ago at the residence of the former American president at Mar-a-Lago, in Florida.
Although the leader of the White House expressed optimism, he remained reserved about a quick solution to the conflict affecting Ukraine from 2022.
