Just over five months after swearing in for the second presidential term, Donald Trump enjoys a series of political victories. He achieved one this week – when Congress adopted his flagship tax law. On Friday, in the White House he will sign it surrounded by the closest allies from Congress.
– There is no better birthday present for the US than the phenomenal victory, which we achieved a few hours ago, when Congress adopted one great, beautiful law that will make America great again – said Trump on Thursday evening among the crops.
Trump's legislative victory is not everything – the White House has more opportunities to celebrate. The US President ends a certain stage of his policy – aggressive and insolent, which allowed him to strengthen his influence both at home and abroad.
“I think I have more power now, really,” he told the journalist on Thursday before leaving Washington to des Mines, Iowa. – We have many successes. My first term was very successful, during its duration we had the best economy in the history of our country. I think that in this term we will achieve even better results – he added.
Over the past month, Trump has tightened the fight against migrants and sent the army to the streets of Los Angeles, conducted secret raids to Iranian nuclear objects and forced NATO allies to agree to a significant increase in defense expenditure. He also won an important victory in the United States Supreme Court – he issued a decision limiting the possibility of issuing nationwide orders by federal judges blocking administration policy.
At the same time, the US president benefited from optimistic economic data. They softened the criticism of his commercial and fiscal plans, which was previously supplied by the editors of “The Wall Street Journal” and the American world of business. Employment is also growing in the country, and inflation remains under control.
American stock markets have reached new records, which leveled all the losses they recorded in April after Trump imposed duties on a number of countries. Administration officials with satisfaction adopted better than expectations of employment data published on Thursday and record levels of the S&P 500 and NASDAQ stock exchange indexes.
A challenge for Trump
The adoption of the “great, beautiful act” of Trump was in the eyes of many confirmation of the rightness of the president's actions and the brightest signal so far that he strengthened control over the Republican Party in many issues.

In conservative circles of the USA there are serious doubts as to the financial effects of the Act – according to many forecasts in the next decade, it will increase the federal deficit by over $ 3 trillion. (PLN 10.8 trillion). More moderate Republicans expressed concerns about drastic cuts in the Medicaid program – a healthcare system for low -income Americans and disabled people – and subsidies restrictions for enterprises dealing with pure energy.
Ultimately, however, after a few days of intensive negotiations, Trump calmed down critics. The act was adopted by the Senate and the House of Representatives with only three votes of the republican opposition from the higher chamber and two from the lower chamber. After the adoption of the law by the Chamber of Representatives in the White House, the atmosphere of optimism prevailed.
“Markets already love it,” the White House clerk told journalists. – We think it is a real bridge for the golden era of America. Now we will really get to work on restoring the prosperity, security and stability of this country for the whole generation – he added.
Although representatives of the administration claim that the Act will be a “huge political benefit for republicans”, there are signs that Trump may face further challenges – especially when it comes to convincing American public opinion to its flagship tax and expenditure program.
The Morning Consult survey conducted last weekend showed that 50 percent Trump's voters are opposed to his “great, beautiful act”, And 36 percent support her. The average of the last public opinion polls carried out by Realclearpolitics also shows that much more Americans – 50.5 percent. – He does not approve of the president's actions. They are supported by 46.3 percent
