The man who raped six children, including his daughter, received almost 30 years in prison. Final decision in the case that shocked Alba

The man from Cugir, Alba county, who raped and sexually assaulted dozens of times six girls, aged 6, 8 and 9, one of them being his own daughter, was definitively sentenced to 29 years and 4 months in prison by the magistrates of the Alba Iulia Court of Appeal, reports Alba24.

This is the most serious case of rape in Alba, in the last 10 years. Claudiu Hancheș Hancheș was found guilty of raping six little girls, acts that took place between 2016 and 2023. The rape file was kept secret by the magistrates, due to the fact that all the victims are minors, according to the quoted source.

After he was sent to court, Hancheș's case had a complex course on the role of the courts in Alba. Sentenced to 21 years in prison in 2024, at the Alba Iulia Court, Hancheș and his lawyers appealed.

The lawyers said that they found a “problem” in the file and asked the Alba Iulia Court of Appeal to re-judge the file. More precisely, Claudiu Hancheș was not convicted of any of the committed acts. The magistrates of the superior court then admitted the appeal, and the case came back to the Alba Iulia Court.

On April 25, 2025, the Alba Iulia Court sentenced Hancheș again to 29 years in prison. He appealed, and the file was once again before the Alba Iulia Court of Appeal.

Finally, on December 23, 2025, the magistrates of the superior court in Alba Iulia gave a final decision in the case: 29 years and four months of imprisonment with execution.
