Security of the Eastern Flank, discussed at Turzii Plain. Dutch Prime Minister Dick Schoof and Ilie Bolojan, visit to Air Base 71

The Dutch Prime Minister, Dick Schoof, paid a visit to the 71 “General Emanoil Ionescu” Air Base in Câmpia Turzii on Tuesday, together with Prime Minister Ilie Bolojan. The two officials visited together the Romanian and Dutch troops stationed in this military unit.

The visit began at 11:30 a.m. and included, in addition to the troop review, a bilateral meeting between the two heads of government. The agenda of the discussions was focused on the state of cooperation between the two states in the field of defense and in the economic field, being analyzed at the same time the current security situation at the regional level.
The official delegation that accompanied the Romanian Prime Minister included Deputy Prime Minister Radu Miruță, in his capacity as Minister of National Defense, the head of the Prime Minister's Chancellery, Mihai Jurca, State Councilor Luminița Odobescu and the Deputy Chief of the Defense Staff, Lieutenant General Dragoș-Dumitru Iacob.

Last year, the Netherlands deployed three MQ-9 Reaper drones to the Câmpia Turzii base along with around 40 Dutch specialists who operate and maintain them.
