Security and new rights. Donald Tusk wants cooperation with the president


Prime Minister Tusk said that in January there may be a need to make important decisions regarding the future of Ukraine and security in the region. Therefore, he announced that he would count on an urgent meeting with President Karol Nawrocki to coordinate the state's activities.

“It is in Poland's interest that, regardless of differences of opinion, the centers of power coordinate their actions in the international arena.” – noted the head of government. The Prime Minister added that his ministry would share detailed information from the videoconference of the leaders of the USA, Ukraine and Europe, in which Poland was represented by President Nawrocki.

The Prime Minister assessed that the prospect of ending the war in Ukraine was real, pointing to the American declaration of readiness to participate in security guarantees for Ukraine. The high-level talks were attended by, among others: European leaders, the Prime Minister of Canada and the Secretary General of NATO.
“Peace requires compromise on Ukraine's side on territorial issues, and decisions must be accepted by citizens while guaranteeing security.” – Tusk emphasized, praising President Zelensky's attitude.
The status of the closest person as a “civilizational minimum”, says Tusk
The Prime Minister also raised national legal issues, including a draft law on the status of the closest person in a relationship and a cohabitation agreement. “This is the minimum level of civilization that Poland can afford” – said Tusk, pointing out that the regulations will make life easier for informal couples, both hetero and homosexual.
The project enables, among others: choosing a property regime, establishing alimony obligations, access to shared housing and medical information, as well as the possibility of power of attorney in everyday life. Termination of the contract will be possible before a notary, and the contract will expire in the event of the party's death or marriage.
The Prime Minister emphasized that he assessed the chance of passing the bill in parliament as high, and the only question was the president's signature. “I hope that the strategy of vetoing everything the government proposes will not win” – he added.
