The lawyer of ex-deputy of the Legislative Assembly Alexander Gliskov, who was found guilty of taking a bribe, explained why the politician’s case will be reviewed and the verdict may be changed.
Lawyer Alexander Khropot published in the telegram channel “Gliskov and his team” a cassation ruling issued by the Eighth Court of Cassation, located in Kemerovo. The court assessed the objectivity of the consideration of the appeal against the court decision made in October 2024. The document indicates that most of the charges in the case of Alexander Gliskov were not proven.
“The violations of the rules of verification and evaluation of evidence committed by the court of first instance influenced the resolution of the issue of the guilt of the convict and the decision in the case of a lawful and justified verdict, since when rendering a guilty verdict, the court did not refute all the arguments of the convict put forward in his defense about his non-involvement in the commission of the crime. These violations of the law were appealed by the convict and his defenders in appeals, but these arguments of the defense were not objectively verified by the appellate court,” Alexander Khropot cites an excerpt from the document.
Now the Krasnoyarsk Regional Court will have to consider the ex-deputy’s appeal again. The composition of the court will change.

“The cassation court came to the conclusion that the prosecution’s evidence was insufficient to prove the crime. During a new consideration of the appeal case, it is necessary to evaluate the evidence of the defense that refutes the accusation in this part, as well as check other arguments of the defense that were not assessed during the trial,” explained lawyer Marina Vasilyeva.
Let us recall that in October 2024, the Central District Court found Alexander Gliskov guilty under Part 6 of Art. 290 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation (taking a bribe) and sentenced him to 10 years of imprisonment in a maximum security colony. According to investigators, in 2017, the deputy, using his official powers, received 1 million rubles from the head of a state-owned enterprise in Krasnoyarsk through an intermediary. This was part of a bribe of 5 million rubles. It was established that for a reward he promised to help the official maintain his position and was supposed to provide general patronage to the person and the enterprise.
Gliskov himself denies involvement in the crime and calls his case political. He tried to appeal the verdict, but the regional court left it unchanged.
