AC Milan coach Massimiliano Allegri praised the team's striker Christopher Nkunku after his two goals in the 3-0 win against Verona in a match of the #16 Serie A stage. He also stated that around 84 points will be needed to win the Serie A title.
In the 2024-2025 season Napoli won Serie A with 82 points, 1 point more than 2nd placed Inter. The Rossoneri coach believes that more points will be needed this season.
Massimiliano Allegri, on the fight for the title in Serie A: “Now the threshold is around 84 points”
Asked how many points will be needed for the Scudetto, Massimiliano Allegri replied:
“Currently they are 82-84, but I can get to 86. If a team has a strong run, I don't know, but now the threshold is around 84 points. It was important for us to win today, because we drew with Sassuolo and lost with Napoli.
It was important to win, because Verona is a difficult team, and above all, we finally beat a small team at home. This was very important. We will go step by step, we have to recover all the players.
Rafael Leao must be fully fit, Pulisic is still not 100%. Nkunku is growing and Youssouf Fofana is back from injury. I am very satisfied, we have to work quietly with the clear aim of playing in the Champions League next season. As Fabio Capello said, this is quite a difficult goal,” commented Allegri after the victory against Verona, according to sportal.bg.
It was normal for Nkunku to score. He is a very sensitive person who wanted to do a good job. Today, after the converted penalty, he broke free and scored a goal that is in his DNA, attacking the ball after Luka Modric's shot. I think he can still improve, just like everyone else.
In the first half we were a little tense, but organized. We didn't even allow a corner. In the second half we did better. At the end of the first half we opened the scoring after a corner. At 3-0 we could and should have had better control of the ball.
As the season progresses, it will be harder. In five days we will have a difficult match in Cagliari, because they always play hard there, and yesterday they recorded a big victory. We have to prepare well. Today, some footballers got a bit more playing time in the final minutes. We need everyone, because we have a crucial month and a half between now and February 15th.
