On Saturday, January 10, CSU Sibiu achieved an incredible comeback in the confrontation with FC Argeș Basketball, from the 16th stage of the National Men's Basketball League. In less than 15 minutes, the yellow-blues recovered a deficit of 26 points and won 86-81.

6 days after the overtime defeat against Corona Brașov, score 91-102which left a bitter taste for the fans present in Sala Transilvania, CSU Sibiu returned to their home ground, for a confrontation with FC Argeș Basketball.

Pitesti had collected two consecutive victories after breaking up with coach Nebojsa Vidicwho, in the meantime, arrived in Poland, ranked penultimate, and had an excellent morale, which was seen in the first half.

FC Argeș Basketball showed a special offensive appetite and scored 53 points in the first half, receiving, instead, only 33. So, a 20-point advantage at the big break. After returning from the dressing room, the white and purple continued to control the game and the supporters were beginning to be resigned to the thought of another harsh defeat.

With 4 minutes and 25 seconds left in the 3rd quarter, Elijah Joiner scored from near the rim and the score became 65-39, a difference of 26 points in favor of the visitors.

What followed was incredible. By the end of the penultimate sequence, the Sibians scored 16 unanswered points and, before the decisive act, the score was 65-55. The same Joiner broke the ice for Pitesti in the first minute of the last quarter, but it was too late, hope had been reborn in the minds and hearts of the hosts.

6 minutes before the final whistle, Eduard Roschnafsky managed a “triple” that brought the score to 70-72, causing Andreja Marusic to call for a time-out. Then, two minutes later, CSU Sibiu veteran Monyea Pratt put her team ahead, 75-74, also with a long-range basket.

The basketball players of FC Argeș Basketball fell completely and, pushed from behind by an extremely noisy audience, CSU Sibiu carried out the spectacular comeback to the end. The yellow-blue managed a partial 47-16 run in the last 15 minutes of the game and won 86-81, coming back from -26.

Leading the home team were Tavon King (19 points), Anastasios Zetos (16 points), Anthony Smith (15 points), Michael Randolph Jr. (14 points) and Keith Stone (10 points).

On the other side, Kendall Lewis (24 points), Elijah Joiner (14 points) and Marcus Thornton (11 points) stood out.

Due to this result, CSU Sibiu reached a record of 6 wins and 9 lossesoccupying the 11th position in the National League standings. Instead, FC Argeș Basketball, with 10-5, is in 3rd place.
