Andrei Nicolescu (49 years old), president of the Dinamo club, spoke about the fight for the play-off and the chances of the main opponents, CFR Cluj and FCSB, after a season marked by oscillating results for both teams.

This season, Dinamo had very good results in direct matches: 2-1 with CFR Cluj, 4-3 with FCSB at home and 0-0 with FCSB away. All confrontations with the champion took place at the National Arena.

Andrei Nicolescu, president of Dinamo: “The results with FCSB do not give us chills”

The “dogs” official emphasized that the direct results this season give confidence to the Dynamo team, even in front of the title champion:

I also see CFR fighting for the play-offs, for the last two places. The recent results with FCSB do not give us great shivers. It's a strong team with talented and experienced players, but we've shown this year that we can handle matches with them as well.”

Quick, the only obstacle left

Nicolescu admitted that there is still an opponent that Dinamo has not been able to overcome in recent years.

The only hop I haven't passed in these two years is the Rapid victory. Otherwise, I passed all other challenges. In the case of a play-off with FCSB, it will be the hardest opponent, due to their experience”, Andrei Nicolescu told Digi Sport.

Ranking situation

After 21 stages, Dinamo is in 4th place, with 38 points, just two points behind the leader Universitatea Craiova. For the “dogs”, the year 2026 will start with a home match against U Cluj, scheduled for January 18.

FCSB comes after three consecutive victories in all competitions, but only occupies 9th place, with 31 points, two lengths behind the last play-off place, occupied by Oțelul Galați.

CFR Cluj, for its part, has two consecutive victories, but is in 11th place, with 26 points, seven points from the play-off zone.
