President Donald Trump hosts Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu at his Mar-a-Lago resort in Florida. The reconstruction of Gaza is among the “five major topics” the two leaders will discuss, the US president says.

Donald Trump's meeting with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu began today shortly before 14:00 local time. Trump suggested to reporters that “a lot of progress” had already been made, according to CNN.

“We've already made a lot of progress. We've had a meeting for about five minutes and we've already resolved three of the difficulties,” the US president said before the press was quickly ushered out of the room. He said earlier that he would discuss “five major topics” with Netanyahu during their meeting in South Florida.

The American leader also stated that Gaza, the reconstruction of which will begin “quite soon”, will be one of the topics addressed.

Netanyahu called Trump 'the luck of the whole world'

While at Mar-a-Lago, Netanyahu made several statements about his relationship with Trump, calling the White House leader “the luck of the whole world.”

“I've never had a friend like President Trump in the White House. Not even close. And I think you can judge that not just by the frequency of our meetings, but by the content and the intensity of them. I think Israel is very fortunate to have President Trump at the head of the United States and, I would say, at the head of the free world, right now. I think it's not just Israel's luck. I think it's the luck of the whole world,” he said.

The US delegation for Monday's meeting includes several members of the president's cabinet and some of his key allies: White House chief of staff Susie Wiles, Secretary of State Marco Rubio, Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth, the president's son-in-law Jared Kushner, deputy chief of staff Dan Scavino and special envoy Steve Witkoff.
