Twenty-five people were under investigation in Italy for financing the terrorist group Hamas, the Ansa news agency reported on Sunday, citing the prosecutor's office in Genoa. The day before, seven people were detained, including the president of the association of Palestinians in Italy, Mohammad Hannoun.

Hannoun's wife and two sons were also investigated. According to investigators, his relatives were aware of the real purpose of collecting money for the Gaza Strip and that the funds would go to Hamas. Moreover, it is suspected that the president's sons maintained contacts with the recipients of the money and perhaps participated in its transport.
Approximately EUR 7 million was sent to Hamas from Italy.
It was established that the money for the terrorist group was transferred through three associations collecting aid described as humanitarian.
“Charity for terror” – this is what the daily “Il Resto del Carlino” called the aid network for fighters.
Two people are wanted. They are probably in Turkey and the Gaza Strip.
