Local ceasefire. Russia and Ukraine agreed to a “window of silence”

According to IAEA Director General Rafael Grossi, the agency is actively monitoring the progress of repairs. The aim of these activities is to prevent potential nuclear accidents during the ongoing armed conflict in the region.

Grossi emphasized that both sides of the conflict had agreed to a temporary “window of silence” that would enable the restoration of electricity transmission between the distribution stations of the Zaporozhye Nuclear Power Plant and the Zaporozhye Thermal Power Plant.

“The IAEA team is monitoring the repairs, which are expected to take several days, as part of ongoing efforts to prevent nuclear accidents during armed conflict. Director-General Grossi thanks both sides for agreeing to this new temporary 'window of silence' to restore electricity transmission between the distribution stations of the ZNPP and the Zaporozhye Thermal Power Plant, which will strengthen nuclear security,” the International Atomic Energy Agency wrote.
