Coventry imposed himself at the limit on his own ground in front of those from Swanseascore 1-0, in a duel within the round with number #23 of the EFL Championship, the second tier of English football. Thanks to this success, Frank Lampard (47 years old) set an impressive milestone in the island's football.

The full schedule of round #23 of the EFL Championship

Frank Lampard took over at Coventry in November 2024, and in his second season on the Blue Sky bench, the 47-year-old technician has produced a remarkable performance.

Coventry City are the second club in history to reach the 50-point mark in the first half of a season in the Championship!

The only goal of the game at the Society Arena was scored by Ephron Mason-Clark just before the break, in the 44th minute to be exact, but this achievement not only brought Coventry their 15th win of the season, but also set an impressive record in English football.

With the success against Swansea City, Frank Lampard's side have amassed 51 points, becoming only the second club in Championship history to reach or surpass the 50 mark in the first half of the season.

The previous similar feat had been achieved by Wolverhampton in the 2008/2009 season. Then, the “wolves” obtained 53 points in the first 23 stages, during which they managed to score 50 goals.

Coventry didn't quite reach 53 points, but instead outscored Wolves in goals scored, with Mason-Clark's strike marking Lampard's side's 54th of the season.

At the moment, Coventry is the authoritative leader in the second tier of English football, with 51 points, followed by Middlesbrough, with 43.

So it looks like Lampard has a very good chance of returning to the Premier League for the start of the 2026/2027 season, after Coventry lost the promotion play-off to Sunderland last season.
