The value of banknotes and coins in circulation increased by PLN 3.98 billion at the end of November this year – according to data from the National Bank of Poland. Data from the central bank also show that the “life” of banknotes in Poland was extended by 20 days at the end of the third quarter.

According to the National Bank of Poland, the value of coins and banknotes in circulation increased to just over PLN 464 276 million at the end of November this year. from PLN 460 billion to PLN 293.4 million at the end of October this year and from PLN 408 billion to PLN 941.5 million in November last year.

The National Bank of Poland announced that at the end of the third quarter of this year. a banknote in Poland spent an average of 716 days in circulation, which is 20 days longer than in the second quarter of 2025. At the end of the third quarter of 2024, the “life” of a banknote was 663 days.

Number of banknotes in circulation at the end of November this year. increased by 20.7 million compared to October, to 3 billion 467.9 million pieces from 3 billion 447.2 million in October. However, the number of coins in circulation increased by 84.5 million pieces, to 24 billion 419.3 million.

The largest number of coins in circulation were PLN 100 coins, almost 1.6 billion, while those with PLN 200 were 1.15 billion. The smallest number were PLN 500 banknotes – 101.3 million, 151.9 million of PLN 20 banknotes, 223.3 million of PLN 50 banknotes and 244.4 million of PLN 10 banknotes. (PAP)
