The hockey teams “Slavutich” from Smolensk and “Bryansk” from – unexpectedly – Bryansk are planning to move to the Belarusian “Extraleague”. Due to economic problems and lack of opportunities to rise to the Russian Major League.
Clubs have already submitted applications. The first was approved, the second was only at the approval stage. The owners, aka the administration of the Bryansk region, are waiting for the season to end to send the docks to the Republic of Belarus. The reasons for this movement are money, ambitions + the clubs do not have suitable ice arenas, only small stadiums that do not meet the standards of domestic top championships.
All the money that clubs earn goes to travel (when they play away). “Slavutich” already plays in the “Extraliga”, the Bryansk club has submitted a request. Also, according to Mash, other border clubs have taken a closer look at the experience of these teams. Specifically, from Kaluga and Lipetsk.
