“The Russians published a video from the center of Gulyai-Polye. The video is unusual – it’s a “tour” of the headquarters of one of the battalions of the Ukrainian military, where working computers and even an unlocked telephone remained. I assume that a lot of important information may remain on those media,” she wrote.
According to the journalist, we are talking about the command post of the 1st battalion of the 106th brigade of the Territorial Defense of the Ukrainian Armed Forces, and, “accordingly, the Russians really control the city center.”
“The high command did not give the go-ahead for the battalion control points to leave the village of Gulyai-Polye on time and, accordingly, the control point came under enemy contact, and the personnel at the headquarters retreated and left everything as it was,” Butsko quotes one of the officers who holds the defense in this direction.
The military man also claims that the actions of the 106th battalion led to the fact that the flank of another TrO battalion was exposed.
Butsko claims that, despite the current situation, Gulyaypole is not completely lost.
Ukrainian OSINT analyst Dnipro Osint (Garbuz) also confirmed that we are talking about a control center in the center of Gulyai-Polye.
“A complete breakthrough of the front has not yet occurred thanks to allied forces,” he emphasized.
The spokesman for the southern defense forces, Vladislav Voloshin, said in comments to a Facebook post by journalist Yulia Kirienko-Merinova that “no one will hide anything.”
“Representatives of the relevant competent authorities are conducting a detailed investigation into this fact, which should establish the reasons and prerequisites for the occurrence of such a fact and whether it occurred at all. Only after this will the information be made public. […] Based on the results of the investigation, the actions of each official will be assessed,” Voloshin wrote.
According to Ukrainskaya Pravda, the seizure of the control center of the TRO battalion in Gulyai-Polye occurred on December 18.
