The front line is the limit of the truce? The US-Ukraine-Europe-Russia deal “has good ideas”

I had a very good conversation with US special envoys Jared Kushner and Steve Witkoff, said Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky on Thursday in a message published on social media platforms.

“We talked about some important details regarding the ongoing work. There are good ideas that can result in a common result and lasting peace,” Zelensky wrote on Facebook.

On Wednesday, the President of Ukraine presented a new proposal for a peace plan developed by the US, which is the result of numerous consultations with the parties to the conflict; it assumes the establishment of a line of deployment of troops necessary to end the conflict in the place where the front line runs. At the same time, as AFP pointed out, none of the points proposes a solution to the problem of territories occupied by Russia.

Zelensky said on Wednesday that an agreement to end the war in Ukraine would be an agreement between the US, Ukraine, Europe and Russia. He added that Ukraine's accession to NATO remains a decision of the Alliance's member states, but Kiev will not give up on this prospect. (PAP)
